About the Role
We are currently looking to hire a Metal Fabrication instructor who has several years of experience working on custom vehicles. This candidate will utilize in house fabrication and machinist tools to create and modify custom body, chassis, and suspension components to teach students. Somebody who can make custom brackets, custom sheet metal panels etc. You must be able to weld exceptionally well and keep your area clean.
As a metal fabricator instructor, you will be responsible fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products. You will need to fit up aftermarket sheet metal and make any additional changes necessary for proper fitment. You may also be required to set up fabricating machines and design custom templates. Requirements
Direct Responsibilities:
Experience with all forms of metal forming utilized in the custom car building industry (Sheet Metal & Mild Steel)
Experience with metal forming tools including, shrinker/stretcher, brakes, shears, slip rollers, planishing hammers, etc.
Experience with MIG & TIG welding
Ability to fabricate anything from full chassis/roll bar/suspension components to body repairs and modifications
Knowledge of custom car build process
Ensures that shop tools & equipment are well-maintained and cleaned while training students on the importance of a
Maintains and wears all required personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended.
Cooperates with and assists other program instructors in student training. Participates in organizational activities, staff
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Must have 5+ years of experience in the industry
Ability to train & coach patiently & effectively to students of all ages & levels of experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license & reliable means of transportation
Proficient in the safe & efficient use of all fabrication tools and equipment.
Ability to work well with & be responsive to the needs of staff, students, and management
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor & remain calm in demanding and unpredictable situations.

About the Company
Lost Angels Children's Project (LACP) is a non-profit organization that serves disadvantaged youth through innovative vocational training, social enterprise, and traditional outreach programs. The LACP Work Program serves transitional aged youth from 18-24 years old. Our program participants (students) learn classic car repair and shop skills in a hands-on training program where they develop and immediately apply their skills towards classic car restoration. The program teaches highly transferable skills designed to help students obtain careers in aeronautics, aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing industries.
